The week leading up to race week can be pretty hectic and stressful! Let’s admit it, even the most seasoned triathlete can forget something on race day. Take the stress out of packing your bags and make sure you’re on top of things with this coach-approved race day checklist!
SWIM
- Towels x2 (transition + extra)
- Goggles x2
- Wetsuit (and/or speedsuit)
- Swim cap (neoprene swim cap if cold weather)
- Swimsuit
- Safety pin (to secure chip)
- Anti-chaffing cream (ex. Body Glide)
BIKE
- Your bike (you might need it!)
- Bike shoes
- Helmet
- Sunglasses (+ extra lenses)
- Repair kit (Co2, tube, multitool)
- Pump
- Bidons (3-4x)
- Bento box (if not already on bike)
- Dry oil and rags
- Tie wraps; elastics
- Electric tape (handy for taping gels to bike tube)
RUN
- Running shoes
- Quick tie elastic laces
- Your favourite sport socks
- Cap or visor
- Race belt
- Fuel belt (if using)
MISCELLANEOUS
- Your KIT!
- Extra kit for pre-race activation
- Watch and cardiac monitor
- Arm warmers/layers for cold weather; cooling sleeves for hot weather
- Nutrition (sport drink, gels, gummies, bars, electrolytes, etc.)
- Sunscreen
- Hair ties
- Black Sharpie marker
- An extra roll of toilet paper (could come in handy!)
- ID/Passport; triathlon licensing papers
- Tuque/jacket/joggers for chilly race mornings
- Addresses
- Compression socks/recovery gear
- Plastic bags in case of rain
- Chargers! (DI2, watch, phone, etc.)
- Post-race attire
- Some cash
